Can you push too hard????

Day 17

How do you get everyone fit enough to do a challenge for charity?

I have set a goal of 3 days a week exercise, which should be enough, baring in mind we have just over two months.  My motivation, for getting them motivated, is purely because we are supposed to complete the course  all together and frankly I don't want to spend my time walking 3 miles (5k) soaked in water and mud simply because people haven't realised there would be so many obstacles to tackle, the clue is in the title... it is supposed to be a challenge.  Trust me if I could get people to donate money, whilst I dance Salsa all evening drinking rum and cokes, I would!   Hell, forget the Salsa.   Laying in bed all weekend drinking rum and coke, works for me too. But that's not an option.

We will be jumping, climbing and crawling through mud while "volunteers" bombard us with water It's a Knock Out style.  I may not want to break any records, (I couldn't even if I wanted to do,  those days have long gone), but I do want to get it over and done with as soon as possible and as it takes 30-40 mins to complete the course.   It would take an hour to stroll the course in the possible cold.....brrrrr!

So, hence the 'training' to keep us all on the same fitness level.  So far I'm doing okay, I have completed two days workout already.  Another did 2/3 of the exercises on day one and she's been  in bed ill ever since.  One has refused to do any exercise because "I don't like people telling me what to do".  I have heard nothing from the remaining two.

I'm hoping it is all a matter of slow burners, otherwise I am either going to be in the hospital post the challenge due to people collapsing or I'm going to be swung from the nearest tree because they didn't know it was going to be that hard!

Biting the Bullet!

Day 14

So, today exercise starts in earnest.  I did a 30 minute meditation to get my mind right first, then I got down to my bra and pants and started my first 30 minute exercise routine.

With the sun streaming through the window and me at 5 foot and a spit.  I felt like an Amazon warrior woman ready to take on the world and kick some arse and show some love (meditation kicking in!)

What is it about exercise that makes you feel so good?

Of course it helps that I have a day off today, so I am already on a partial high, but where as normally, I would have a list of mundane chores to complete.  Of which, I would put off and snuggle up to a box set of one of my favourite shows, complete with jumbo popcorn and a rum and coke or two! I am about to meet up with girlfriends for lunch today.  I will then, eventually,  slip back to my home and get those mundane chores done.  Confident in the knowledge that I will not only complete them all, but feel that all is right with the world once I have done so.

Scientists will say it's all the positive endorphins that exercise produces.  I say it just takes away the guilt you feel for being a lazy bitch all day!

Makeup Artists/Supermodels? Spot the Difference!

Day 12

Finally we have agreed on a photo for our Race for Life charity event.

It was a close run battle where we went from this:

To this one below

But the final one is this:

Now there has been a few people scoffing at our current level of fitness, based on the fact there is some false advertising with the 'bodies' we have chosen.

All I have to say to you doubters is,  if you look at a dictionary for the word  stamina…you will see a picture of one of us doing a 12 hour stint on a music video, 2/3 days in a row!  Don't let the fact that I have yet to complete 10,000 steps in one day, be a cause for derision.

But just in case, training starts in earnest Monday.  Bring it on!

It's All Sex! Sex! Sex

Day 10

So this song has been in my head since I first heard it on the radio.  The fact that it was used in the Fifty Shades movie as background to Anastasia as she looses her virginity, is inconsequential.

Weeknd's haunting  voice matched with that thumping intro, which I can presume is  a full orchestra  with a wicked string and base section,  gets me every time.  Now I am not a music critic,  I likes what I like.   But whoever produced that single, kudos to you (because the live piano accompaniment  version does nothing for me).  Every time I hear it on my iPod, I have to turn the volume way up and it just  makes me feel like grabbing my boyfriend by the back of the neck, rip his clothes to shreds with my bare teeth and ravish him, wherever and whenever we are at the time..........if only I had one!

\

On the RACE FOR LIFE getting sponsorship front.   It seems to have stalled and the team haven't had any new influx of  substantial  funds for a few days (my meagre contribution to the pot so far a mere £30 and £20 of that I donated myself).  Pathetic!  No wonder Bob Geldof feels the need to get up and start shouting profanities to get people to cough up for a worthy cause.

So far,  we are still awaiting the images from the talented Ciara for our fund raising posters.   On offer at the moment  are our heads superimposed onto the naked bodies of supermodels,  on to the heads of the semi naked bodies of the pussycat dolls and last but not least, the bodies of bikini clad, feathers flying  Las Vegas show girls.

The sad truth is everything boils down to sex, sex, sex.  But it's all for a worthy cause, right?

Love me, Love my Flaws!

Day 8

As a makeup artist, I will always look at a clients face and see what I consider her best feature.  I will then ask her what she considers to be her best feature.  10 % of the time they will tell me and leave it at that, the other 90% of the time, women would start giving me a rather in-proportionate list of all the things they hate about their face; eyes too small, nose too wide, lips too big etc.

What I have learned, in all my 16 years in this business,  are the flaws you look at every day, that seem to stand out like a giant beacon to you,  are usually totally oblivious to everyone else.   When you introduce yourself to someone for the first time, what they will notice is your warm smile, your confident manner, your engaging eyes.  If you have wit and charm, they won't notice that small hair line scar just below your chin.

I have yet to meet someone who has said "I don't like him/her because he/she's got a big nose....pointed chin.....crooked teeth.....fill in the rest.

What your mother told you all those years ago is actually true.  Beauty is only skin deep, it's what's inside that truly matters.  I wish us women would remember that. At least 90% of the time.  Concentrate on what you like about yourself, forget the rest, it's irrelevant.....in the words of RuPaul...WORK IT GIRL!

Why cant you just be happy?

Day 6

I have a friend, also a makeup artist, who, 30 percent of the time is the funniest thing on two legs. Quick witted and sharp as a tack.  The rest of the time she is the most negative person you could  ever hope to meet.

Now I have been working at this studio on and off for the past week, generally with the same crew.  We are all of the same mind set, in fact we had a deep conversation about the LOA (Law of Attraction) and the powers of the universe.  Now for those of you who have been living on planet ZOG for the past 1000 years or have not heard of the book called The Secret. The basic premiss is, if you truly  believe something bad is going  to happen, it will. If you truly believe something good is going to happen, it will.  The Masaru Emoto experiment proved this.  Basically boiled rice is put into two sealed jars. On one jar is marked LOVE, the other HATE.  He tells one jar everyday how much he loves it, and the other jar how much he hates it. After several weeks the love jar is as fresh as the first day. The hate jar has turned into black sludge!

This friend, no matter how the conversation starts, she will have a harrowing outcome that has happened to her, or someone she knows or someone she heard about.  She once refused to go to a social function because she heard there was to be a guest from the African continent and she didnt want to get Ebola!

Bearing in mind, she was the only change in crew compared to the previous 4 days. She walked in with her dark mood and proceeded to tell us that she felt 'in her bones' that the day would not go well.

It was amazing to stand back and watch as this toxic gas of negativity hit the team! Like a stack of dominos, each one in turn started to lament previous disasters. Where as previous days were filled with laughter and all the positive things that have been happening in all our lives.

I have had a conversation  with this woman previously about her attitude. But some people  refuse to be enlightened.   She refuses to believe all her bad luck has anything to do with her negative attitude. She isn't even willing to try to remain positive. According to her, you can't  be happy all time.  My response, Why the hell not? Some people wear their negative attitude like some kind of emotional comforter.  It's a matter of choice.  It always has been, it always will be...The Secret anyone?
